Being Responsible

Being Responsible

For Ourselves and Our Environment

Sustainability at the Heart of Our Actions

The ICS Group digitalizes and automates supply chain processes. Our solutions are designed to help companies act more efficiently and transparently. This gives us a responsibility to our stakeholders and our environment in order to actively participate in mastering the challenges of our time and enabling a sustainable future.

We are strategically oriented towards the ESG criteria and implement ESG reporting on a voluntary basis. This way we create more transparency for stakeholders, especially for investors in terms of sustainable finance.

What is ESG?

ESG stands for Environment, Social and Governance and thus for the principle of sustainable management across all corporate levels, which always focuses on ecological factors, social interaction and ethical guidelines.

What does Sustainability Mean for Us and Our Stakeholders?

For us, sustainability is a strategic success factor and competitive advantage. Sustainability stands for long-term efficiency and the best possible use of resources. We are continuously working on further reducing our energy consumption, unnecessary use of materials and waste, in order to contribute to climate protection. We are also designing our vehicle fleet to be sustainable: We are working flat out to leave fossil fuels behind and are already using e-mobility in our fleet of cars and vans. The possibility for employees to use a job ticket subsidized by the company or the e-bikes at the ICS locations is a plus.

Good leadership is at the heart of a responsible behavior towards employees. By good leadership, we understand both the ability to work and the motivation of our employees. In order to optimize the ability to work, we offer our employees: flexible working hours, health care as well as free development and training opportunities. A truely sustainable employee motivation comes from within. The ICS makes this possible by offering its employees free development opportunities, responsibility and trust. We proactively support our regional environment with charitable projects or through cooperation with universities and associations.

Sustainability has long since become a value creation factor for our customers. We not only support our customers with solutions to make their own processes more sustainable, we also enter into direct dialogue with them about this future-oriented megatrend and are happy to advise. Our event series ICS Experts offers the perfect platform for a valuable exchange of experiences, in order to generate attention and make other companies aware of the possibilities of sustainable corporate management.

Our Path to Sustainability – Milestone 2025

Sustainability and ESG

Measures for a Green ICS

The ICS Group will continue to work on reducing its CO2 emissions. The aim is therefore to reduce the use of internal combustion engines in the company's own vehicle fleet to a minimum by 2025. By the end of 2021, 25% of all ICS Group company vehicles were purely electric, in a few cases also as plug-in hybrids. We have been investing in the expansion of our own charging infrastructure at our locations for several years. By 2025, 50% of all company vehicles are planned to be purely electric. In addition, with job tickets for local public transport, e-bikes and hybrid work models, we want to further relieve road traffic and the commute of our employees.
The ICS Group is also increasingly relying on recyclable packaging. Our goal is to only use recyclable material in our own packaging and filling material by 2025. We are also promoting this issue with our suppliers so that we are consistently expanding our own green supply chain.
The electricity for the ICS Group infrastructure is also to be generated entirely from renewable energies in the future. Since the beginning of 2022, the electricity for all of our company locations in Germany has already been 100% green and is drawn entirely from renewable energy generation systems. Our electricity provider is TÜV-tested with its certified green electricity products.

Our servers should also be solely supplied with green electricity. If we use external hosting partners, they already guarantee this in many cases with their own energy mix. For systems where we still need optimization, we will have adjusted accordingly by 2025. In addition, for us, energy efficiency (through low levels of waste heat radiation and modern technologies) - in addition to issues such as availability, security and performance - is another important decision criterion for the selection or replacement of server hardware.

In order to also train our employees in matters of sustainability and environmental protection, we will use online learning measures to provide information about sustainability and sensitize our workforce to a better use of resources. In this way, ICS employees will become ambassadors for sustainability. In addition, we maintain an open corporate culture that enables every employee to make suggestions for improvement and for a more sustainable ICS.
In order to always be able to offer the latest technologies and to advance innovative future topics, the ICS Group works together with various research institutions. Among other things, we are part of the Innovation Campus meBest in Berlin, Stettin. The campus, which acts as an incubator for innovation and business, offers companies, institutes, students and children a cross-border place for development, research and cooperation. Furthermore, we cooperate in research projects with the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) and work together with other partners on making omnichannel logistics more flexible and create a more sustainable customer journey - at the POS and in eCommerce.
The ICS Group is represented at various locations in Germany. In order to give something back to our regional environment, we invest in charitable projects and cooperate with schools, universities and associations.
Due to increasing sustainability demands, the ICS Group has decided to voluntarily be evaluated by the rating company EcoVadis in order to critically analyze its previous ESG measures. We are very pleased that the ICS Group (with its legal form ICS International GmbH Identcode-Systems) was rated "Good" by EcoVadis for its intensive measures in the area of sustainability. Achieving this positive result directly with the first rating is an incentive to further improve our sustainability efforts - in the interests of our employees, the environment and all stakeholders.
